Event Details

Workshop 1: "Dances of Veracruz" 
Sunday May 4, 11am-1pm
Students will be introduced to the basic technique of Mexican folk dance and learning 1-2 dances from the state of Veracruz.  

Workshop #2: "Dances of Jalisco"
Sunday May 4, 1:30-3:30pm
Students will be introduced to the basic technique of Mexican folk dance while learning a traditional dance from Jalisco (including the Mexican Hat Dance "El Jarabe Tapatio").


Description:
Students in both workshops will be introduced to the basics of all regional Mexican folk dances.  The intricate, rhythmic footwork will be broken down in both classes.  Some basic skirt work for the women will also be introduced in both workshops.  Each workshop will culminate in the completion of at least one regional dance.  Students of all levels and ages are welcome and encouraged.  Come ready to move, shoes with a heel are preferable i.e. character shoes, flamenco shoes, etc.  If not, wear something comfortable and supportive, and most of all come ready to have fun!

Instructor Bio:
Linda Landeros has loved to dance since she was a child and has been dancing for more than 15 years. She performs in dance companies throughout the Bay Area and is experienced in ballet, jazz, tap, modern dance and Irish and Mexican folk dance.
